One fateful day Gwen texed Sallie “I’ve got a crazy idea…”

We had our first business meeting that night. We knew they wanted to make a beautiful shop in downtown Santa Rosa that would offer pantry items, responsibly grown staples from local farms, beautiful kitchen wares, cookbooks and foodcentric magazines, grab-and-go lunches, natural wines, ciders, and craft beer.  We wanted a place you could walk to and pick up some special ingredient for dinner, or hang out in with your friends. So we built it.

Miracle Plum opened its doors 16 months after that first meeting after being delayed by wildfires fires, the health department, and learning how to set tile coving. Once open, we grew steadily into the space - three months after opening we launched our wine program - the first natural wine program in Sonoma County (and probably the only one between the bridge and Portland, Or). We hosted all number of workshops, art shows, and pop-ups.

In 2020, we barreled headlong into the global pandemic transforming our business overnight into a predominantly online shipping and delivery model. It was a wild time. This was also the year we opened our own Commissary Kitchen. W I L D.

In the years that followed, we saw many of our peers and vendors close their businesses for various reasons - and we were also feeling the pinch. In 2022, we decided we too needed to close our brick and mortar shop. It was an extremely difficult decision, but it was the correct one for us. We had an epic party on December 31st with our closest friends and loyal customers where we played the music loud and drank as much of the stock as we safely could. It was very sweet, and we barely cried.

In the following months, a few things became clear - we still wanted to share food and wine with people.

We are returning to our original mission, our roots, if you will, of connecting over food and allowing all those moments to inform who we are. In service to that, we have a creative project we're breathing life into and a consulting business, you may find we do other things from time to time too.
